Techniques for happy and fulfilled life

It seems that everything comes in a list format nowadays. “Wash, Rinse, and Repeat” or “Open box, Remove Contents, Try and Assemble”. Maybe it is because when we see things in a list format our brain interprets them as a set of instructions - rules that must be followed. The proliferation of articles about happiness as of late has been astonishing. Everybody is coming up with the magic formula for finding happiness. I don't know about you, but I need to keep things simple and in perspective at all times. Wouldn't it be great if there were a simple set of instructions for living a happy and fulfilled life? How about an instruction manual for life? Something along the lines of “Enjoy childhood, Explore young adulthood, Engage in a rewarding career, and Enjoy life.” Unfortunately, things are not that easy. That doesn’t mean there aren’t techniques and tips you can use in your everyday life that can help you find happiness and fulfillment as you go through the journey of ...

Sensible food choices

Giving healthy food to their children is a constant concern for parents no matter what social status they belong to. But not all parents are aware of what constitutes healthy nutritious food. The Human Development Report (2009) prepared by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) reported high rates of malnutrition among children in slums, and the urban elite. Malnutrition among slum children is not a surprise as they do not have access to nutritious food. This report highlighted the co-emergence of malnutrition and overnutrition where rich urban children eat excessive calorie rich but nutrient empty food (devoid of minerals and vitamins). Intake of palatably tasty but nutritiously poor fast foods, aerated drinks, foods high in trans fat, saturated fats and sugar (such as pizzas, burgers, sodas and colas, cakes and pastries, samosa, French fries) do not provide the necessary minerals and vitamins required for daily intake although they may provide the necessary calories. Obe...

Know what is Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy, or CP for short, is the most common developmental disability in the United States. There are more than 500,000 people with CP in the United States today. Every year, almost 5,000 babies and infants are diagnosed with the condition. Maybe someone in one of your classes has cerebral palsy — or maybe you have it and you've been dealing with it your whole life. At a time when young people are so conscious of appearance and body image, it can be tough to be in a wheelchair or to have people tease you about the way you walk. But having cerebral palsy doesn't mean a girl or guy can't do what other people do. About Cerebral Palsy Cerebral palsy usually is a congenital disorder, which means that it's a problem that develops before or at birth. It can also result from brain damage that occurs in the first few months or years after birth. Cerebral palsy is a disorder of the brain that affects a person's ability to coordinate body movements....

Where can you find happiness?

Where can you find happiness?    A boy was standing at a beach facing the bright sun when it was about to set. A old man who passed him just had a look at that young boy, he found that boy was crying. He inquired the boy, he said I am not happy. The old man asked Why are you not happy?. What ever I do I fail in that, I don\'t succeed. Is that the only reason for your lost happiness questioned again by the old man. He said, hell a lot of things are there, why should I tell you all those stuffs. Old man looked into the boy\'s eye and told, happiness lies within you. It was a shock then for the kid, he asked how come? I am not happy still. In reply to the question old man gave a simple formula to the boy, Happiness = Adjustments / Limitations He then explained the boy, life is full of happiness when you have adjustments and limitations. Happiness is directly proportional to Adjustments and inversely proportional to Limitations. When you feel ...

Be your own Boss

It all starts with an idea. And enterprising youngsters are brimming with them.  Entrepreneurship is many things to many people. It is the art of becoming rich to some; to a few others, it is freedom from authority; for yet others it is acquiring authority and to a small group it is the art of creating something from nothing. As you can see, entrepreneurship is what “you” want it to be. A popular school of thought holds that entrepreneurship is all about the “Idea.” I hold the view that it is as much about the person and the founding team as about the idea. Times will change, ideas will be irrelevant, but it is the people behind the idea who adapt and make the new reality a new opportunity. Start ideating It is very easy to fail on a brilliant idea if the founder has mismatches in character. Similarly, the individual with phenomenal traits can make a huge success of an average idea. Berkshire Hathaway, as a company when it was first acquired was a failing business but due to one ...

Why We need to be positive !

There are plenty of reasons for us to invoke the power of positive thinking in ourselves, but most of the benefits of a positive attitude can be sized into one of these more prominent "Big Three Lesses" below: 1. Less Stress   Imagine all the times you were complaining about somebody or something - chances are those negative feelings were leaving their mark on you in the form of stress.A lot of times, an occasional complaint may seem like an instant stress reliever. But what about such an attitude in the long run? Getting into the habit of constant grousing, particularly over trivialities or things not directly in our control (like other people's attitude, for instance), is a sure fire way to invite the negative power of stress into our being. Since stress feeds on negativity, reducing stress is a good reason to eliminate negativity and stay positive in life.  "Attitude is everything. Instead of thinking about what you're missing, try thinking ab...

Here are 4 steps identified for genuinely getting past disappointment

Here are 4 steps  identified for genuinely getting past disappointment: 1. Let it out. One of the hardest things to do in a world where everything is immediate—we are all under external pressure, and time is a scarce resource—is to just let yourself experience a feeling. Even at the most difficulties times, such as grieving, on average we only allow ourselves 1 to 2 weeks off or work, and then we mostly expect to get back into normality again. Human beings are not very good at allowing the experiencing of emotions in full without trying to speed up the process. The only time we have this ability in its purest sense is when we are young children who have yet to be told or taught what is socially acceptable. Children will tantrum and cry and scream, or laugh until it runs out and they are genuinely ready to move on. I’m not suggesting we lock ourselves away for weeks at a time whenever we have been disappointed, but to be aware of any sense of obligation to “just get ov...

To remain happy and optimistic when you fail is more important than achieving success.

To remain happy and optimistic when you fail is more important than achieving success. Optimism plays a substantial role throughout our life from childhood through adolescence into adulthood. So, it is necessary to be optimist or positive in spite of any kind of failures or obstacles emerging on our ways, because optimism in failures brings significant advantages to our lives. It leads people to inventions, and makes them be stronger in disasters. In addition, it enables people to live longer. In fact, there have not been any crucial discoveries in history without failures. It is an inescapable part of our life that may guide people to innovations. For instance, a light-bulb, one of the major inventions of mankind, was invented by Thomas Alva Edison after failing more than ninety times. So, as a proverb says: “Only who gets lost, discover new ways”. It proves once again that optimism in failures is the main motive for success, because after reaching success we are no longer willi...
